Dr Shivananada Manohar J is a passionate teacher, interested in psychiatry and sexual Medicine. More than 45 publications, which includes articles in National and International journals, reference books and textbooks.
I am a passionate Psychiatrist with a belief in a holistic approach to the management of any disorders. I am a person who always looks at every individual as normal unless it causes significant disruption in their personal and social life. There is a lot of myths and misconception in the society about Psychiatrist. To be more simple we are also the same individuals as any of you, except that we have studied behaviour science. I am Man who believes that individuals are gifted with immense potential, but circumstances mask this potential. It is the duty of professionals like us to unmask their potential.
Sexuality is one of the basic instincts and indeed a necessity of every individual. Our culture looks at sexuality in different stands. Sexuality is beyond procreation, is one of the important ways of bonding. Sex being a behaviour, we also treat disorders related to the same. Many marriages and relationships will be at stake due to a small misconception about sex. I have been a part of the treating team which has solved hundreds of sexual and marital issues.
I believe in the principle of “Sarve Jana Sukhenobhavanthu”. If each individual in the society is happy, it reflects even on others. As a part of this mission, I give talks in various forums like schools, colleges, institutes and workplaces addressing issues like Stress management, time management, interpersonal skills, soft skills, resilience and many other topics.
One of my other passion is teaching. Training medical students who are future doctors is one of the utmost responsibilities. I am a member of the Medical Education Unit at JSS. The stress among doctors during these times are at an all-time high. One of the important skills which can help to manage stress is resilience. I am working strategies to impart resilience among students during their training
