My main objective is to learn and teach the art and science of anaesthesia. Learning is a continuous process and would like to update myself to all the latest developments in this field and transfer the knowledge to the younger generation. I would like to apply this knowledge for the betterment of the patient care with the best available resorces. Thus making my contribution to make the JSS medical college and university the apex institute providing health care facility in this country.

Profile

Dr Archana has been a consultant anesthesiologist and a teacher for 22 years. Her areas of interest are difficult airway, pediatric anesthesia and critical care. She is an AHA certified BLS/ ACLS instructor and has been training students in the same. She has undergone training in palliative care and regional anesthesia as well. Also, has been a PG Guide and external examiner for postgraduates of other universities. She has worked at different levels of hierarchy in Indian Society of Anesthesiologists, Mysuru city branch and has undertaken various steps to create awareness about anesthesia to the public. She has been part of organizing many CMEs and conferences. She has presented papers in International, National & state conferences. She has been faculty at various platforms at National & State levels.

Objective Statement

As a teacher in anaesthesiology department,I like to train high quality health care anaesthesiologists,carry out creative and innovative research to address current and emerging anaesthesia challenges and also to apply international standards in evidence based anaesthesia care and critical care provision. To provide good palliative care to the needy cancer patients and also to provide interventional pan relief . I like to impart virtues of professional ethics and high moral standards in our practice.

She has done a fellowship in (6 months course) Interventional pain management in Joshi’s Institution, Hyderabad and Palliative care certificate course in IAPC,Kidwai Hospital,Bengaluru. She was an executive committee member of ISA,Karnataka chapter for 6 years. she was an internal auditor in the same organization for 6yrs and Vice-president for 1yr. She has been invited as a faculty in International( SAACA), National & State conferences. She has also done provider and instructor course in BLS and ACLS. Her area of interest is pediatric anesthesia and pain medicine. She presented papers in international , national & state conferences Apart from academics, she is associated with various social organizations. She is also inclined towards classical music,dance and spirituality. Speaker at WCA conference held at Singapore. Presented paper in WFSA coference held at Prague.

Objective Statement

Chronic pain is an invisible challenge that modern medicine faces. It is not only restricted to physical agony but a biopsychosocial model. I have always felt the need to address this unrecognized and underrated problem. My objectives to fulfill this are - To develop one of the best Pain and Palliative Care department in JSS hospital with the state-of-art facilities and holistic approach to manage the most challenging chronic pain conditions. To create awareness about Pain Medicine as a specialty among the health care professionals, medical graduates and postgraduates which can benefit the patients in large. To bring awareness in the society regarding wide array of pain management options available which can improve the quality of life in the patients who are silently suffering from chronic pain. To make the pain treatment available to the patients of all the strata of the society and rural areas in and around Mysore. To conduct research in this upcoming field which is the need of the hour.

Profile

Dr. Pratibha Matche is a senior faculty in the department of Anesthesiology and Co-ordinator of Pain and Palliative care unit. She has graduated from BJ medical college Pune, completed her PG from Nair hospital Mumbai. She is a Fellow of Indian Academy of Pain Medicine (FIAPM). She joined JSS Medical College Mysore in 1997 and has 22 years of clinical experience in providing Anesthesia to the patients of various surgical specialties and super specialties with passion for Pain Medicine. She is trained in Interventional pain management and Palliative care from various prestigious institutes like Daradia institute Kolkata, Ganga Ram hospital New Delhi, Tata memorial hospital Mumbai& Ganga hospital Coimbatore. She has major contribution in setting up & establishing Pain and Palliative Care unit at JSS hospital since 2009. She has expertise in managing various chronic and cancer pain conditions using basic and advanced interventions underfluoroscopy and ultrasound guidance along with multi-disciplinary approach. She is a President Elect of ISSP Karnataka chapter, Associate editor of Indian Journal of pain, governing council member of Indian Academy of Pain Medicine & Board member of SIG on Musculoskeletal pain of ISSP. She is awarded with' Best Low- Cost Pain treatment' award at the National Pain Conference in 2019. She is a regular faculty at various State and National conferences. She has presented several papers at these forums and received 4 awards.She has special interest in Musculoskeletal Pain and Regenerative Medicine.

Dr.Chandrashekar underwent undergraduate training from JSS Medical College, RGUHS (2007-2013). She enrolled into anaesthesia residency in 2014 at Yenepoya Medical College, Yenapoya University Mangalore. Following her MD in 2017, she has been working as a senior Resident at JSS Medical College Hospital. “ I am glad be a member of faculty of the institution where I began my medical education” adds Paayal. Her long term goals includes implementing structured protocols and multidisciplinary approach for a holistic perioperative management. She enjoys teaching the undergraduates and postgraduates.

She recently undertook a two and half years international fellowship programme in Anaethesiology and Intensive care in the United Kingdom where she had the opportunity to advance her academic and clinical career and work in a tertiary care trauma and transplant centre, tertiary care obstetric centre. She gained experience in trauma and hepatobiliary anaethesia including dedicated time in liver transplant as well as critical care and enhanced perioperative care and ERAS pathways. She was also successful in achieving her European Diploma in Anaesthesia and Intensive care and Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Insights- Objective Structured Clinical Examination

During her time in the National Health Services, UK, she gained insight into a different healthcare system, the importance of accountability, critical incident reporting, Audits, Quality Improvement projects and multidisciplinary team management.
