Students of MBA Hospital Administration, MSc (Medical Biochemistry), MSc Clinical Embryology, MSc Medical Genetics, BSc MLT and Nursing and BSc Medical Genetics are also trained in Clinical Biochemistry laboratory.
Research
- Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CEMR) was started in the year 2012 in the Department of Biochemistry, JSS Medical College, with a vision to nurture cross-interdisciplinary research groups working towards a common goal of early diagnosis and treatment for various communicable and non-communicable diseases.
- CEMR is recognized by :
o Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), Government of Karnataka
o DST-Fund for Improvement of Science & Technology Infrastructure in Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (DST-FIST)
o ICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence
o Department of Biotechnology-Boost to University Interdisciplinary Life Science Department for Education and Research (DBT_BUILDER)
o Department of Science & Technology-Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (DST-PURSE)
- We have an excellent research team (17 full time faculty) with a mix of clinician scientists and basic scientific researchers. Each group is working on different thrust areas such as inflammation, sepsis, diabetes, cancer (colon, oral, breast, liver etc.), cardiopulmonary diseases, metabolic syndrome etc.
- The research activities at CEMR are well supported by excellent infrastructure at the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSSAHER) campus. Over the years CEMR has made significant contributions in the scientific field and have published articles with high-impact journals such as LANCET, JAMA Oncology, Journal of Advanced Research, Frontiers, etc (average journal impact factor of 10.42 for the last 3 years). Four patents have been filed.
- Our research team has been successful in getting funds from agencies including ICMR, DST- CSRI, DST SERB, DBT, India Alliance DBT Welcome, GHES, NIH, USA, VGST, etc.
