The Department of Periodontology, JSS Dental College and Hospital, under the aegis of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, organized a Workshop on Periodontal Microsurgery on 2nd July 2025

The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Dr. Dhakshaini M R, Principal, JSS Dental College & Hospital. In her address, Dr. Dhakshaini highlighted the significance of hands-on microsurgical training and appreciated the department's proactive efforts in enhancing clinical education

Dr. Suman Basavaraju, Professor & Head, Department of Periodontology, welcomed the attendees and provided an overview of the workshop’s goals, emphasizing the role of microsurgery in improving clinical outcomes in periodontal therapy

The hands-on training sessions were led by Dr. Avaneendra Talwar, Additional Professor, Department of Periodontology, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangaluru. Dr. Talwar conducted detailed lectures and live demonstrations, followed by guided practical sessions focusing on precision, magnification, and fine suturing techniques

The event was efficiently coordinated and organized by Dr. Pratibha Shashikumar and Dr. Avinash B S, Readers in the Department of Periodontology, JSS Dental College and Hospital with the help of Post Graduate students and department support staff. Their meticulous planning, teamwork, and commitment ensured the seamless execution of the workshop

Conducting this event will enhance the skills of the postgraduate students in the Department of Periodontology, enabling them to deliver improved patient care

This academic initiative further reaffirmed the department’s commitment to clinical excellence and advanced skill development in the field of periodontology.
