JSS College of Pharmacy is one of the oldest pharmacy institutes in the State of Tamil Nadu situated in the beautiful town of Ootacamund, popularly known as Ooty. It was established in the year 1980 with the object of imparting quality pharmacy education in India. The College is located amidst serene greenery, supported by learned faculty and with the state-of-the-art facilities, the college provides enough opportunities to develop the individual in his / her chosen field of expertise . Initially only Diploma course was started and subsequently graduate, postgraduate courses and doctoral courses were added. The mission statement of the institution was redefined in the year 1990 and it was decided that the institution would strive hard to have a fully equipped Postgraduate studies and Research centre. Today the college is one of the largest postgraduate and research institutions in the country, imparting quality pharmaceutical education at graduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The college has been successful in maintaining high level of research activity recognized at the national and international levels.

Courses offered

JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty offers the following courses:

1. B Pharmacy ( 4 years undergraduate course)
2. M Pharmacy ( 2 years postgraduate course with 8 specializations)
3. Ph D., full time ( 3 years); Part time ( 4 years)
4. Pharm.D ( 6 years Integrated course)
5. Pharm.D. (3 years Post Baccalaureate course)

B Pharmacy

Duration; 4 Years

Eligibility for B.Pharm Course:

• Pass in HSC/PDC/PUC/AISSC/HISC (10+2) or equivalent with individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology (or) Mathematics both theory and practical with a minimum of 35% marks and with not less than 50% aggregate marks in the above subjects is mandatory.
• A pass in English with a minimum of 35% marks is mandatory for all categories.

Direct II Year B.Pharmacy course through Lateral Entry for D.Pharma holders:

• Should have aggregate of 50% marks in the first and second year D.Pharmacy examination with a pass in HSC or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) or Mathematics.
• Minimum qualifying marks in 10+2 as per I year B.Pharmacy eligibility with a pass in two year D.Pharmacy course.

M Pharmacy

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility for M.Pharm Course

A candidate who has passed B.Pharma degree examination of the JSS University established by law in India or any other degree courses in Pharmacy recognized as equivalent by the JSS University and who has secured not less than 50% of the maximum marks shall be eligible for admission to M.Pharm course.

Pharm.D

Duration: 6 Year

Eligibility for Pharm.D Course

• 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Mathematics or Biology.
• A pass in D.Pharm course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
• A pass in D.Pharm course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

Provided that a student should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the course.

Pharm.D. (Post Baccalaureate)

Duration: 3 Years

Eligibility for Pharm.D. (Post Baccalaureate) Course:

A pass in B.Pharm from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act:

International Students

Admission Criteria for NRI/ Foreign Students:

A foreign national seeking admission to this college shall enclose the following with the application:

• An 'Eligibility Certificate' obtained from JSS University, Mysore. In this regard the student may contact the Registrar, JSS University, Mysore.
• A 'Clearance Certificate' obtained from the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India.
• A 'No Objection Certificate' from the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
• A Photocopy of 'Student Visa' and 'Passport.

Internet Section

The institution is having excellent Internet Section with 20 systems with broadband facility. All departments viz. Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Pharmacy Practice and Phytopharmacy & Phytomedicine are having computer facilities with separate broadband connections.

Hostels

The institution is having the inhouse hostel facilities for boys and girls in the campus itself and accommodating 250 students in boys hostel and 240 students in girls hostel. The Hostel provides delicious & nutritional vegetarian food.

The Library is situatged in an easily accessible place covering 4100 sq.ft has two sections, References / Technical and Lending. The library has over 18000 books and subscribes to more than 35 National and International journals.
